Beauty queen Aishwarya Rai, who was worried how she would manage her tight schedules, is now relieved; she had signed Shankar’s Robot which stars Rajinikanth; she has also signed Mani Ratnam’s bilingual with Abhishek in the Hindi version and Vikram in the Tamil version; earlier, the schedules of these movies clashed. Aishwarya was worried about an impossible juggling of schedules that was dangling above her head like a sword. But she still went ahead and signed both films.

Pleased by this, director-producer Shankar has decided to give a 2-month break to Aishwarya Rai when Mani Ratnam’s film shooting begins. And moreover, filming for Robot begins in July or August, a little earlier than Mani Ratnam’s film which begins in September. So this buys Aishwarya time that she can spend on her homework too.

Aishwarya Clears Rumours about 'Action Replay'

Filmmaker Vipul Shah says he is worried about his friendship with Aishwarya Rai who is working in his film "Action Replay" as people are making "systematic attempts to destroy" their relationship.

"Aishwarya is a very respectable professional. It hurts to see how her sheer hard work is ridiculed to build one spicy story by the media. She has been a soft target. And the sort of rumours rising now can damage my relationship with her. She has been my friend for a long time and I am afraid I will have a fallout with her," Shah told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

"There are certain people who are making systematic attempts to destroy my relationship with Aishwarya. There are gossip mongers who are spreading baseless rumours that she has refused to dub for 'Action Replay' after seeing the rushes. But none of this is true," he added.

Shah gives three reasons to prove that all the rumours are baseless.

"Firstly, when the shooting of the film has not been completed, where's the question of the rushes and dubbing? Secondly, I haven't even seen the 'edit' of the film. After the shoot completes, it will take at least two and a half months to put it in order for a final cut; so there is no need for dubbing at the moment.

"And lastly, 'Action Replay' is in sync sound, so dubbing is totally out of the question. Besides, I have been busy for 'London Dreams'; Aishwarya has been busy shooting 'Ravana' and 'Guzaarish'. She has been travelling a lot so we didn't even have time to take 'Action Replay' forward. What is the logic behind these rumours then?" he added.

This apart, there were also rumours that Aishwarya had repeatedly rejected one of music composer Pritam Chakraborty's song for the film. But Shah denies it.

"It was I who had rejected Pritam's song thrice, not Aishwarya. The song was for her entry in the film and I wanted to crack a big song. I never allow my actors to my music recording studio - then from where have these rumours come out from?" he asked in an agitated tone.

Shah, who made hits like "Singh Is Kinng" and "Namastey London", is yet to shoot the last leg of the movie, which also features actor Akshay Kumar and Neha Dhupia.
"The last schedule of the film is still pending. We have planned to shoot it in December or January. Currently I am doing the recce for the locations," he said.

But in public Ash exercises restraint so that people do not stare at her. At home she gives way to her weakness.The only time Ash had to diet was to prepare for the role in Dhoom 2 in which she had to cut her weight to a miniscule 54 kilos.

“It was a painful experience. I had to be 54 kgs and so for a month I was on a strict diet. That was the most painful period for me. And to add to my misery, I had to work out” Ash remembered.At present Ash said she has a good metabolic rate and does not need to work out but she hits the gym a couple of times a week to keep fit.

Reminiscing about her movies she says she looks well fed in most movies except ‘Dhoom 2’ in which she looks well toned. But ‘Dhoom 2’ brings back unpleasant memories of her dieting.Ash revealed that during the shooting of Sarkar Raj , the Bachchan family used to carry home cooked food.

But Ash said, “ I love all cuisines. And any time is a good chow time.”

“Doing the Vogue cover was a promise I made to Anaita (Shroff Adajania) right from the time she joined the Vogue. Anaita was having a baby and she wanted me to do it before she delivers,” Aishwarya told from London. She added: “I was to do this shoot last month but I fell ill before I left for the world tour. So, we crossed notes and managed to do it on time in London just after we finished almost the last show of the tour.”

Anaita Shroff Adajania is the fashion director for Vogue India and costume stylist for films like “Kal Ho Na Ho”, “Being Cyrus”, “Dhoom 2″ and upcoming films like “Drona”, “Biloo Barber” and Imtiaz Ali’s untitled project with Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone.The actress’ make-up was done by Denise Rabor with hairstylist Josh Wood who couldn’t stop praising her beauty.Incidentally, Aishwarya is presently in Peru, shooting for her Tamil film ‘Enthiren’, with southern superstar Rajnikanth.

Of course, it was not Amitabh Bachchan who plays the character of Auro in Balki’s upcoming flick ‘Paa’, but a child artiste playing young Amitabh in the film who fell from Vidya Balan’s shoulder, creating commotion on the sets of the film.

Sources close to production unit reveal that the particular sequence required Vidya Balan to carry the young Amitabh (played by a child artiste) on her frail shoulders (Vidya Balan weighs only 45 kg, while the child artiste was also of the same weight). Though, it seemed rather a Herculean task for a person of Vidya Balan’s weight to carry the child of equal weight, she volunteered to complete the shot.

Initially, everything was going in accordance with the plan, but after some time there was a loud bang and Vidya, along with the young Amitabh Bachchan, was seen tumbling on the ground. Abhishek Bachchan plays Auro’s father in the flick.

Though Vidya Balan was lying on the ground and everybody rushed to help her stand, the gutsy lady refused to back out of the sequence. She again tried to carry the boy and finally okayed the particular sequence to the satisfaction of director Balki.

In fact, Vidya Balan, who will be working with Big B for the first time in her bollywood career, was over-excited with the opportunity and did not want to leave any stone unturned in her effort to give a realistic and perfect shot for the film. Vidya Balan plays Abhishek Bachchan’s wife and Amitabh Bachchan’s mother in the film.

It may be recalled that Amitabh Bachchan’s character of Auro in the film suffers from a rare kind of genetic disorder called progeria. The disease causes premature ageing of an individual, leading to graying of hair etc at very young age.

To portray the character of Auro realistically, Amitabh Bachchan had to take the help of specialist technicians from Hollywood. In fact, Amitabh’s new look in ‘Paa’ consists of eight pieces of clay, which were especially fitted on the facial contours of the actor. Finally, these eight pieces of clay had been made into one by special electronic spray.

The buzz doing the rounds in the industry is that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Big B’s daughter- in- law, has taken charge of the marketing strategy of ‘Paa’ and has been attending all meetings of creative team. Sources close to Bachchans say that Ash wants ‘Paa’ to succeed at the box office at all cost, and hence has been personally supervising everything.

Another reason for Aishwarya Rai’s interest in ‘Paa’ is said to be the sagging fortunes of ‘ABCL’. Aishwarya wants to revive the Bachchan’s banner in big way through this big film. The film is due for release on Dec 4 and first look of Big B has already created enough buzz….seems Aishwarya’s first step has succeeded , what say??

As the Goodwill Ambassador, Aishwarya will actively work to help Smile Train to provide free cleft surgery to children in 78 developing countries around the world, including India.


This initiative will help raise awareness in India and around the world to the plight of children born with cleft. Talking about this association, the ever-so-gorgeous Aishwarya said, "God has given me plenty of reasons to smile and I feel it's time to spread it around. There are a lot of children out there who so desperately need help, but can't receive timely care because their families cannot afford this surgery or are ill-educated about this condition. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is certainly keeping busy shooting for her two newest films, Endhiran with Rajni and Mani Ratnam’s Ravana. In fact, she is having to jump from one shooting schedule directly into the next.

Right now she is in the forests of Kerala shooting with Abhishek for Ravana but starting the 18th she will be rushing off to Chennai to shoot scenes for Endhiran . A source said, “Presently the shooting of Rajni starrer mega budget film, Endhiran is going on but the portions that are being shot don’t require Aish. But from 18th December onwards some really important sequences of Endhiran are going to be shot in and around Chennai. Aish will be present with the Endhiran unit till month end post which there will again be a break for a few weeks.”



Abhishek will be going back Mumbai after the Ravana schedule and once Aishwarya is done with Endhiran seems the two will go on a much need

Aishwarya Rai sure has a crowded year ahead, having signed movies with filmmakers Vishal Bhardwaj, Rituparno Ghosh, Abhinay Deo and Vipul Shah. And the actress says each of these films is equally challenging and "special" to her. The former Miss World has something unique to say about each movie and filmmaker. "Ritu-da and I have agreed to work together again after ’Chokher Bali’ and ’Raincoat’ in Bengali and Hindi respectively. Our next film together is a bilingual. And very challenging," said Aishwarya. "As for Abhinay Deo’s film it’s got me and Abhishek (Bachchan) in it. But it covers a territory very different from what audiences have seen in ’Guru’, ’Dhoom 2’ and ’Sarkar Raj’. Abhinay’s film is also very different from Mani Ratnam’s ’Raavan’. It’s a special challenge to work with my husband because we’ve to make sure we don’t repeat ourselves," the Bachchan daughter-in-law added.

The ’super-busy’ star is also looking forward to working with Akshay Kumar after a long time in Vipul Shah’s next movie. "It’s something that Vipul, Akshay and I haven’t done before. The last time Akshay and I came together in ’Khakee’ we played almost antagonists. This time we’ll hopefully play a more compatible couple," Aishwarya laughed. So why the sudden flurry of activity this year? "These are projects with directors whom I’ve wanted to work with for a long time. To say no to them when we both are so keen to work with one another seems inappropriate," she explained. A project audiences are awaiting is the one where Aishwarya teams up with filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj for the first time.

"Vishal and I have wanted to work together ever since he was the music composer on a project that got shelved. We had promised one another that I’d star in his film whenever he turned director." Right after his directorial debut with children’s film "Makdee", Vishal had offered Aishwarya a film called "Timbuctoo", but it got shelved. "I was very impressed by Vishal’s work. But he insisted that we’ll work together only when he finds the absolutely right project. That has finally happened. Vishal has bounced the script off me. And we both feel this is the right project for us to come together." The project will go into production by the year-end.

forward to it and we will definitely cherish the experience."

Ash also talked about balancing marriage and work and how hectic her life
has become. "I got married bang in the middle of a film," she said, "Five
years ago you would asked me this question I would have never imagined this
would have happened. I would have said I would wrap-up my work, take a couple
of months off, pamper myself and then gotten married. But there I go bang in
the middle of a historical piece."

Ash is now officially the highest paid Bollywood actress as she appears in
Rajnikanth's upcming sci-fi romantic flick 'Robot'. She says that she has
always been a fan of Rajni and that shooting for 'Robot' was extremely
exciting "Firstly because we've all grown up watching Rajinikanth films and
all those moves – it's been exciting, everyone around me was excited about me
working with him. So that got infectious. The first time he made a subtle move
– the kind that we see on television or in spoofs – I almost let out a chuckle
and thought, 'Oh my God! I have seen this moment right here. I just saw a
Rajini moment!' I was beeming throughout."

Although unlike the current trend, Ash has no interest in IPL. "We have not
thought or discussed it at all" she asserted.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had tried her skills in Kollywood and had delivered mind blowing performances in ‘Iruvar', ‘Jeans’ and ‘Kandakonden Kandakonden’ and went on to earn appreciation from South audience. Now, she is back again in Shankar’s magnum opus ‘Endhiran’ and ‘Robot’ in Hindi, with leading hero and Superstar Rajnikanth.

The movie team has found that this former Miss. World has exceptional grasping powers. She impressed all, including the Superstar, with her good hold on the Tamil language that she had mastered in a very short span of time. But Ash is only amused about it and said that regional languages were not a problem for her, at the same time she was not at all familiar with Tamil. The team were prepared to have re-takes while shooting the Tamil version but “she was soon rattling off the dialogues and getting hang of the emotions with equal skill in both the Hindi and Tamil takes. So much so that Rajni Sir was taken aback,” sources said.

Initially, it was said that she had easily learnt the ropes of Karate, which was necessary for her character in the movie.
